A few options of things you can do beyond voting in the presidential elections
Hey there!
The most crucial role of being a citizen is using your voice and your right to vote. In terms of the 2020 Presidential Elections, the polls have been closed and those that did submit their ballots have contributed towards being active in our national democracy. As we await the election results, we must continue thinking and planning out ways to engage with our communities so as to be active in building the lives we want for ourselves. The following are a few ways in which you can engage with your local communities all while following general COVID-19 safety restrictions:
Support grassroot organizations via donations or volunteering your time
Whenever possible, donate or host fundraisers for reputable nonprofits
Read and stay informed on news and policy updates from various sources
Participate in community meetings and public hearings
Spend time signing petitions and spreading the word on them
Research and stay up-to-date on what your local and state government officials are doing
Consider reaching out to your local government offices on any pressing issues
Actively converse with friends, family, colleagues or even strangers on social issues (be open and respectful to hearing different perspectives on the topic)
I hope this inspires you to take action in whatever ways you can so we can continue to promote activism and civic engagement beyond the current elections.
Love always and forever,
Vale
