My Clean Eating Journey
Hey there,
About a month ago, my family and I decided to commit to a two week detox consisting of no carbohydrates and no sugar. We had never done this before and yet, surprisingly, we had a great experience and truly enjoyed this "clean eating" lifestyle.
Our main purpose in completing this cleanse was to clean out our body from toxins and promote greater health in general. Thus, we kept our cleanse short term and followed basic information and safety guidelines.
Here's a breakdown on how we did it:
No processed or complex carbs (ex- bread, rice, etc)
No sugar or sweetners (ex- granulated sugar, honey, maple syrup, etc)
No dairy (instead, we committed to plant based milks and coffee creamers)
No alcohol
The first few days were the toughest as we experienced cravings for food items that we were used to consuming. By day 4, however, the cleanse began to feel a bit more normal and we were beginning to actually enjoy the meals we were preparing. By the end of the two weeks, I was able to observe our eating habits, lose my addiction to granulated sugar, and grow accustomed to more plant-based goods.
Please see my article on food combining to learn more about this eating technique and to get some recipe ideas if you happen to give this detox a try. Otherwise, I hope you found this article helpful and motivating!
Love always and forever,
Vale
