    Visiting my Nonna's Apartment

8 years later and here I am! Ciao raga, As some of you know, I am half Milanese and spent a big part of my childhood visiting my family in Milano during the winter and summer months. Due to various reasons, the last time I was in Milano was 2012. Now that I returned, I had to stop by my Nonna's old apartment, which my family sold years ago. I have lots of childhood memories here and I felt it was imperative to pass by. It was so nice to visit, even if it was just on the outsi

How to Make a Homemade Piña Colada

Cucina di Vale Hey angels, Here is my homemade recipe to make piña coladas. This is one of my all-time favorite tropical drinks (amongst many others) so I hope you enjoy it! fresh pineapple Malibu Caribbean rum coconut milk We did not have a blender or ice, so we improvised and squashed the pineapple by hand and mixed up the ingredients with a spoon. Simple, quick, and cost effective! Love always and forever, Vale #milano #italia #piñacolada #tropicaldrinks #recipe #lifestyle

    Brazilian Nights in Milano

A little bit of the Brazilian beaches in Milano Bom dia: To keep things a little entertaining, I had the idea of hosting a "themed night". Basically, the concept is to choose a location and curate a night revolving around basic things that relate to the location of choice: playlist, drinks, outfit, and projected background. For our first themed night we went to Brazil, specifically the coastline. Maya and I created a Brazilian playlist and we all danced and drank piña coladas

    My First Pasqua in Milano

Caccia all'uovo, musica, e sorrisi Ciao ciao, I always used to visit Milano during the summer and winter months to visit my family. However, I never got to celebrate Pasqua in Italia until this year... Uova di Pasqua For lunch, we all got dressed up a little more formal than usual and had a full course meal. We spent the rest of the day outside enjoying the sun, playing music, and doing an egg hunt. Very fun experience with lots of delicious food! Love always and forever, Val

    Arrivederci Milano!🌹

Ciao ciao per ora, ma spero di vederti presto Ciao raga, Well, that's a rap for the spring 2020 semester. So much to say about this crazy, unexpected period- for my experience at the Italian dormitory and for everyone else around the world. At the very root, I am so grateful that I was able to remain in a very safe accommodation, make friends with Italians, and continue to increase my Italian fluency. I am also thankful that I got to explore a little bit of Italia before we

    Day Trip to Monza

Local travel: Lombardia, Italia Hey everyone! Due to COVID-19, we are all practicing social distancing by remaining at home or within our local areas. Thus, before leaving Milano, two of my friends and I decided to take a day trip to a nearby town called Monza. As a child, I remember going to Monza during the summer months to bike and walk around il Parco di Monza. This park is huge and offers a lot of greenery for the locals of this town. We first stopped by the town's cente

    From Verona, with Love

Five of my favorite quotes about love from Romeo and Juliet “Don't waste your love on somebody, who doesn't value it.” “Go wisely and slowly. Those who rush stumble and fall.” “If love be rough with you, be rough with love. Prick love for pricking and you beat love down.” “You are a lover. Borrow Cupid's wings and soar with them above a common bound.” “Love moderately. Long love doth so. Too swift arrives as tardy as too slow. -William Shakespeare, Romeo & Juliet Location: Ca

    Sunday in Veneto

Another weekend, another region: Lago di Garda and Verona Ciao darlings, A few months ago, I was able to take a day trip to Italia's Veneto region with my friend Leonardo. We took a train over to the southeast end of Lago di Garda for the first half of our day, and then we spent the rest of the day in Verona. Here's some pics to sum up our trip... Peschiera del Garda We arrived at Garda by 8am and had a good four hours to explore before our train departed to Verona. Therefore

    Tea Time at Marchesi 1824

I am a sucker for dainty cafes, restaurants, and pastry shops that have a unique history and a thoughtful aesthetic display. Therefore, going to Pasticceria Marchesi was a must on my list of things to do while living in Milano. Andrew, Quirien and I had an afternoon tea date together, where we went to the Marchesi location at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele (located right on top of the Prada store). As expected, this was such a lovely and memorable experience; definitely worth doi

    First Time's a Charm....Firenze Bound

My friend, Cala, and I decided to take a last minute trip to Firenze a few weeks ago. Here's what went down... ACCOMODATION We rented out an Airbnb on the southside of Firenze's river, Fiume Arno. Thus, we were located 30 minutes away from the city center by foot. It was totally worth it because we got to stay in a more residential/local neighborhood and enjoy the house's backyard garden. FIRST NIGHT We took a bus from Milano to Firenze so, by the time we arrived, it was alre

    Coastal Living in Camogli

Weekend trip to the northwestern coast of Italia DAY 1 I took an early morning train from Milano Centrale to Genova. From there, I took another train over to Camogli, a small beachtown located along Italia's northwestern coast. cold but cozy After checking into our Airbnb, Danielle, Justine and I walked over to Camogli's boardwalk for some lunch. We found this lovely seafood restaurant called Golfo Paradiso. The restaurant was found a top Camogli's black sand beach and had an
